Why Tiddlywinks?
Bored end of summer days, restless for adventure my brother and I would say to mom, “We’re bored.”
She always answered, “Well, I’m sure I can find more chores for you to do.”
“No mom, I mean it, I’m really bored.” Then she would tell us to go play tiddlywinks with man hole covers. Her silly way of telling us to go use our imagination and find something constructive and fun to do.
So this is my space to use my imagination and create. Me playing tiddlywinks.
When I am doing what God created me to do it feels as though my soul sings! Do you know that feeling? Do you have that one thing that when you do it, you know undoubtedly you were born to do? Words, images, stories, books, pen and paper, creative projects…yes all these things make me come alive and then it happens, my soul sings.
So this is the space for my soul to sing, to create in a way I hope brings glory to God for the gifts he has given me. Maybe it will offer you some encouragement or hope or give you the inspiration you need to go do the thing that makes your soul sing!
I’m a wife, mom and freelance writer living in California. I love a good cup of English Breakfast tea, dipping my toes in the ocean, hiking anywhere near a mountain, cooking dinner with my husband, discovering a local farmer’s market, a good flea market find, a handwritten letter, a great book, the belly laugh of my son and spending with my family…and of course finding time to create. More than all these fun things, I love Jesus and because of Him, I have a story of faithfulness, forgiveness and grace.
I am so thrilled to have found your blog through this button thingy and 31 Days of ??? at The Nester’s! I am your newest follower. I just read your 9/11 letter to your son. I think I’ll have tears for awhile – so profound.

Well, now. Look what I found. My old chum’s blog 🙂 I didn’t know you were writing, Michele! How fun. I’ll definitely add you to my Google Reader! Loved today’s post about chubby hands… thanks for sharing.
Hi Shannon! Glad to see you were back today. Have sent some of my MOPS friends over to see you at Better Mom. Look forward to more of your posts!
Hi Michele,
Wow, i’m so proud of you — and I too love a good cup of English Breakfast tea!
I love the article it actually gave me chills. I can just see him doing and saying these things. You are bringing up a wonderful child who at this early age loves our God very much.
I’m happy this was shared with me and I share with others.
